Good for you! Fresh herbs are a luxury no one should be without!
As long as you have a nice, sunny window, this should be a piece of cake! I found a good article at doityourself.com for you that should get you going: http://www.doityourself.com/stry/indoorherbgarden
Be sure to choose herbs you’re going to use regularly, because once they get going, they’ll really get going! Don’t forget to talk to your plants when you water them and thank them when you harvest, and they should treat you well

This is the Pink House garden and the two dispensaries that they grow for, The Cherry Co. and The Pearl Co. At this growing facility there are many strains which are developed by the Pink House themselves to ensure that the patients are getting the best medicine that could be available to them. This garden and its two dispensaries are able to operate legally here in Denver, Colorado because the people voted and passed Amendment 20 to allow the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes. Indoor Growing: Should I get “Warm” or “Cool” T5 Grow Light for the early growth of plants?
Question by Having a Bad Day.: Indoor Growing: Should I get “Warm” or “Cool” T5 Grow Light for the early growth of plants?
I moved to a new house and it has a very nice basement that I want to set up some grow lights so that I can have herbs and veggies year round. (I live in Zone 5 so super cold Winters.)
I am taking a corner and putting up a wire shelving unit that will have 2 levels (one shelve for herbs under 2 feet tall and 1 for baby plants that will be moved later after they grow past 2 feet tall.) and a unit that will be for the taller plants.
I will need three T5 light fixtures – 2 for the growth of baby plants/non-flowering or fruiting plants, 1 for plants that will fruit.
I’m starting slow so I’m going to get one T5 Light Fixture that will be enough for a tray of herbs that I tried to grow in the garden but they got eaten by something… And I figure that herbs are very simple to grow, so I can’t really screw things up that bad because I’ll only be out a few months and a couple of pinches of seeds.
The T5 Fixture I am looking at purchasing comes with bulbs but it comes with “Cool Spectrum” bulbs and I can’t find any info on if you need “Cool Spectrum” or “Warm Spectrum” for the initial, baby, growing period of the seedlings.
I figure that since I’ll need the bulbs that come with it eventually, I’ll go with it but I need to know in advance if I should order the “Warm” Bulbs at the same time to save on Shipping And Handling.
The info I’ve found says:
“T5 bulbs are highly developed and technology-ridden bulbs that are designed to maximize the light output of the bulb, while using less energy than previous T12 and T8 models. Get an amazing 5000 lumens per bulb, in both 3000ºK (warm) and 6500ºk (cool)color spectrum.”
The fixture I am going to purchase comes with “6500ºk (cool) Blue color spectrum” bulbs.
Are those the Correct Spectrum I require for the Seedlings and when they grow a bit, since I don’t have to worry about fruits, just the growth of the leaves I’ll use for cooking?
Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Your seedlings will do best with a combination of cool and warm spectrum light. If you have to opt for only one, go with the cool spectrum, but both are really what you need for both seedling and mature stages of development.

Are indoor teak furniture pieces okay outside?
Question by lessthnpar: Are indoor teak furniture pieces okay outside?
I know that teak is the best wood for patio furniture because of many properties of the wood but was wondering if I bought a piece of furniture that was meant to be indoors but it was made out of teak and I put it outdoors, would it hold up well?
Best answer:
Answer by dawnb
Teak is teak so I have never heard of anything that makes it better for outdoor use. Teak is a wood that changes inside by sunlight and use so if you are buying it for outdoors it would be a high maintenance item. I am not of fan of real wood for outdoor use because of the maintenance. Though I am sure you can use protection coatings on it I wouldn’t do it. It will be constant or it will change and rot as any real wood will without contstant treatments. I would use it in a covered protected area at best. Otherwise I would choose any of the great aluminum no maintenance pieces available for outdoor use. Or choose any of the new outdoor wicker pieces. Wood, no.
