Question by Bob B: who has a Prepara powerplant indoor gardening system or Areogarden ?
the both typically do the same thing just the areogarden is more advanced. But i was just wondering whats your opinion was of aeroponic growth compared to soil. Do you enjoy yours?

aeroponic growth is faster and less messy than soil based gardening.
it also takes the guesswork out of growing.
Both systems are comparable -once you have a lamp on the power plant products you are good to grow.
the difference between the two is; you are not tied to pods or the whims of aerogardens business model…stated in all their SEC filings..to make money from the pods…like razor blades.
The powerplant takes any seeds of your choice…of course both systems are designed for indoor / kitchen use, so the size of the plants will be limited in scale and scope. they both do extremely well with herbs and leafy veg.
Both early systems suffered from noisy pumps and some leakage…all the newer items rock.
You basically fill ‘em both up, feed them with a nutrient, liquid or tablet, plug them in and leave them. (both products are fully integrated…you get everything you need to grow straight out of the box).
The only personal time involvement / management and care is to check water levels and prune the early plants…easy!
I’ve used all the powerplants and AG models. They are very much the same as far as speed of growth and ease of use.
Any kind of aeroponics is amazing, especially having fresh basil to hand in the thick of winter.
The choice just comes down to using an ‘open system’ like the powerplant or a closed system like AG’s…and yes, price makes a big difference too. Since buying the prepara lamp separately i’ve been able to use if for nurturing my seeds and other plants, something i couldn’t do with the big hood from AG
hope that helps.
