PLANT a Global Bucket (similar to Earthbox®)
www.GlobalBuckets.org It’s easy to build and grow using the two 5-gallon bucket container growing system! Reduce global hunger with a low cost and simple way of growing food. This foolproof method of gardening is very similar to the excellent Earthbox® method. Like the Earthbox system, Global Buckets: 1) 80% reduction in water usage 2) 100% reduction in weeds 3) Takes very little time or effort. 4) No place to plant a garden? Great! This system works excellent on concrete…like on a rooftop in Calcutta. Unlike the Earthbox method, Global Buckets uses locally sourced free or low cost materials, ideal for developing nations.

Good job guys! Brilliant!
dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeee just use the top as the plate b ween the water and the dirt,u r wasting a whole bucket,r u guys smoking the weed u r growing in the bucket?
Letting water run out of the bucket is actually washing away the nutrients in the soil ?
Great video! I’d like to replicate this method but I’m having a difficult time finding a potting mix with sphagnum peat as the main ingredient. All of the big box stores sell mixes which use a majority of decomposed forest matter as the primary medium. I’m not really looking to spend alot of money on ProMix BX or the like. Is there anything I can use that would only cost about $10? Maybe using something like store bought potting mix combined with bark fines.
Not a big fan of fertilizer…
Thank you so much for the easy to follow step-by-step directions. Can’t wait to make mine.
Inspirational video. One of the main problems that I and friends discovered with bucket culture is that they get very soon dry. You need to water hem everyday (tomato), This is an excellent way to fix this issue. For economical and ecological reason (transition, permanent agriculture) I am huge fan of this.
How long does it take when the bucket is dry (5 days ?). Can you see there remains enough water in it ?
ODLICNO–Ko dezuje ta plasitica lepo ohrani neutrients v zemlji in previdno dodajajte vodo ker voda izpere nutrients kar so potrebni za zelenjavo…
Wow, you guys have done a great job with these videos! Kind of wish I had seen them this past winter, I would already have built some
thx for your efforts.
Great Video! I have had Excellent results with my bucket garden. I planted my Tomatoes in early April, now early June I have healthy big plants covered with Tomatoes and blooms. When people come over and see our tomateo’ s they cant believe there eyes….
very good instructions, enjoyed watching.
Why bother with “organic” fertilizer when your potting soil isn’t “organic.”
Help! I cut a hole 3 1/2″ in my bucket. The plastic cup I’m using (which looks identical to your) is too small for the 3 1/2″ hole. There’s space between the hole and the cup.
how much dolomite do you mix into the soil? It’s not clear on your website. By the way, I think this info. is great! I’m going to try this this year.
Different plants require different amounts of water, plants such as herbs require very little, plants such as carrots, potatoes, and other root vegetables require a little more, some fruiting fruits and vegetables, like tomatoes, peppers, beans, and peas, require a little more, and cucurbits such as, cucumbers, pumpkins, watermelons, gourds, zucchini, squash, and gourds, require a lot.
Technically, how long with a typical plant would that much water in the reservoir take before needing a proper fill?
I might of missed it, but do you have or think a way to see the water level from outside is good?
No, that’s a great idea. What we meant was that using a liquid fertilizer applied from the TOP would not work well in our opinion.
great videos guys…you are making a difference
Question: what is the problem with liquid fertilizer? I was thinking of adding liquid organic nutrients in with my water. wouldnt it wick up and feed the plants?
Thanks again
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing this. I can’t wait to try it.
@gypsyroseism That is nice of you to teach your friend
lol, as I’m learning, my friend is wanting to learn too, so I have to keep watching you work so I can teach her!!
@gypsyroseism The comment is much appreciated, thank you!

@msgodschild86 – I have given you some price estimates. Most people sell their work for to little.
Baby Blankets – $50-$100
Twin – $75-$150
Queen on up – $150 or higher
im wanting to make blankets of all sizes to sell, baby blankets, twin size, queen and king.. what woud you suggest I charge for them?
isn’t this similar to the larksfoot pattern? I always ended up making that one crukid.. it never lined up right.. the ends of the row would be funky lookin…what am i doing wrong?
luv your vids
how do u make kind of like a hood on that
@crazylady279 You chain increments of 4 until you get your width. It you wanted something really but, it would probably be over 200 chains.
@SuperSmallfoot what if i wanted to a big blanket like the size for my bed
fantastic pattern. The colour combination is also wonderful
@SuperSmallfoot I would recommend a chain of 135-170
so if i were to do a baby blanket how many chains would u recommend?
@juliatellier Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
Very Concise and easy to understand video with great up-close video of what you are doing. I love it.
@view6193 You can use a single color. You will still have an effect from the stitch shift but it will not be as dramatic as with color. So you will not get the big pop that do you with colors.
Thanks for the wonderful pattern; i wonder can i use single color to do this pattern???
@dragracechic Thank you! The grips are pencil grips that I purchased from Walmart.
@aclark3012 Thank you! I have a lot more ideas in mind. I spent this past week captioning, which will benefit everyone.
This pattern is wonderful your videos are so very helpful-please keep up the good work
Hi! I love all of your videos! You basically taught me to crochet. I think that you are one of the best teachers ever!
Where do you find the cushions on your hooks? I have looked EVERYWHERE for some!
@thatkat07 your bf should appreciate everything you do even if it’s not perfect…. he should appreciate that you tried….
Since I am using smaller yarn, I would like to make sets of 4 instead of 3… how many should I chain to start?
