Photo of Will Allen of Growing Power taken in greenhouse #7 . It is a community gardening coop, where he teaches inner city residents to grow their own food and to use coop farms. In the last year and a half, Allen has added aquaculture to his greenhouses, in a system the that WATER Institute helped to hone: the plants purify the water and where the fish are raised.

that once played that ubiquitous rural role of hiding the septic tank cover.
this year it’s been rolled inside the garden fence to hold all those darned plants that somehow find their way home with me.
that’s the trouble with working in a greenhouse.
(stakes are still in place for holding old sheets used as frost protection up off the plants)
