Thanks.
@SidneyBou on this greenhouse, I used 4 mil but it only lasted 6 months. I’m currently using 6 mil and it’s going on it’s second year with 2 or 3 more years to go!
Can you tell me what mil plastic do you use?
@jsbattlenet glad you liked it…..wiggle wires are great!! (just a little pricey but can be used again and again)
@sal39759 Hey just wanted to check in and let you know I finally got my hands on some of that wiggle wire and aluminum channel base and man its really great stuff. I love it. Holds perfectly. thanks to your video I was able to really get a good look at it. Thank agains
@Brayson2010 thank you for the info. Im going to search it right now.
It is literally called “Wiggle Wire” the base that it goes into is called “Wiggle Wire Base”. Nope you can’t get it at Home Depot or Lowe’s but you can get it on line at places like Gothic Arch Greenhouses.
If you use a staple gun the plastic rips so this is cool but I still use a staple gun. I cut a strip from an old plastic bottle or waxed cardboard carton. Stapling into wood through the strip and then cutting it off with scissors. Its getto but it works pretty good. Sometimes you need to finish them off with a hammer tap. Staples are cheap and I already spend too much money at home depot.
@jsbattlenet I don’t think Home Depot carries them. All that I’ve ever heard them called is “wiggle wires”. You can look on any website that sells greenhouses and related items to order them. I was able to my local Farmers Co-op to order them. They were the same price as the internet but it saved me on the shipping. Greenhouse Megastore carries them along with all related greenhouse fixtures and supplies.
hey thats great stuff. Would you the real name for the wire and channel? I would like to go to home depot and get some. So how was the construction of that house? Was it tuff bending those PVC section into place ? I’m going to try to bring that same construction and want to know what problems I may encounter.
@jsbattlenet You are correct. The rain rolls right off.
@steflova2 My guess would be that the water could roll of and not create pools on the top.
@sal39759 I think one factor is that the round frames are usually made with tubing and that (particulary PVC) is a lot less expensive then the dimensional lumber you’d use to build an angular frame.
By speeding up the video we couldn’t see how you did it. If you had just done one side slower, then we’d know what was going on.
yur camera was so far away i didn’t see what you were doing
don’t we all wish we could get all our work done in fast forward lol nice job on the greenhouse
@steflova2 It is easier, I build one. But it does catch the wind and the rain can sit on the top of it when the plastic bends.
Well, my uneducated guess would be due to ease of construction and smooth edges that do not stress the plastic. But this is just my guess.
could someone explain the popularity of the dome shape? Is it because it deflects the wind and rain most easily?
It seems to me that a like a box shaped green house would be easier to build due to skipping the bending of pipes. I’m brand new to greenhouses. Please explain. Thanks
The plastic cost about 50 bucks but only lasted 8 months. To get a longer life, use 6 mil plastic…..it will last 4-6 years but the cost is about 3x-4x times as much. The wiggle wires cost $200.
How much did it cost ???
It is not clear how the wiggle wire fits into channels. It looks neat and is finished well but you didn’t do enough close up work of what you were doing. I don’t understand how it holds together.
Green house looks great. I’m jealous cause it’s a lot bigger than mine. LOL …… Donald
