About keeping lenses clean especially when going to the desert?
Question by Jebbie: About keeping lenses clean especially when going to the desert?
Realistically, how often do you need to clean your lenses? Is it a good idea to put a skylight filter on it as soon as you take it out of the box, to keep it clean… And, finally, what advice would you give me for taking my camera to Egypt, about keeping it clean of desert sand?

I clean my lens with a micro-fiber cloth, and a little bit of cleaning solution a cleaning kit came with. I do that after almost every major shoot.
For the desert and sand? I would definitely put a filter on your lens! A plain UV filter would work too. I would also look into a lens hood.
What do you think? Answer below!

I use a micro fibre clothe.
I do not use fluids they introduce molds.
Where my sister bought here last pair of eyeglasses, she got a sticky feeling cloth that looks like a washcloth to keep here eyeglasses clean. Out of the kindness of her heart, she got an extra eyeglasses cleaning cloth for me and all you need to do is wipe the lenses on anything with the cloth and the lenses clear up… And you do not need to wash the cloth, an advantage in areas where water is scarce,
